In 2022, 40 years since the Air Force 1 was introduced, a culmination of the rich history of the silhouette was realized with the introduction of the Louis Vuitton x Nike “Air Force 1” by Virgil Abloh. Released posthumously, Abloh’s work seamlessly connected the decades of prominence of Nike’s famed sneaker. In total, Virgil Abloh designed 47 bespoke pairs of the Nike “Air Force 1” for the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2022 show in collaboration with Nike.

The Louis Vuitton x Air Force 1 Low ‘Multi-Color Patchwork’ debuted as part of a 40th anniversary collection during the fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2022 runway show in Paris. Representing one of Virgil Abloh’s final projects for Louis Vuitton, the bespoke AF1s were made in Italy using premium materials and craftsmanship.

The Louis Vuitton x Air Force 1 Low ‘White Team Royal’ makes up one of nine bespoke AF1 styles released in July 2022 through the French luxury brand’s online store. Like its companion colorways, this pair was designed by Virgil Abloh and manufactured in Italy with premium materials. The fashion house’s Monogram print embellishes the upper, featuring a white calf leather base with trompe-l’oeil canvas overlays in royal blue.

Abloh nods to his Off-White clothing brand, with a small hangtag below the Swoosh and an additional 'AIR' printed next to Nike’s AIR on the midsole.
