Circa 1870 France Elegant Second Empire Crinoline day dress in black brocaded taffeta edged with blue geometric diamonds. Fitted bodice, crew neck, bent sleeves and front closure with black glass buttons (four buttons missing). Skirt with large bottom, mounted with fine pleats on waistband, crossing in front with flat pleats. Four rows of ruched flounces underlined by black velvet ribbons at the bottom of the skirt, with a repeat at the cuffs. Unbleached cotton lining to the bodice.
