Does anyone know why velvet would do this? It's brand new and I didn't see it when I was sewing. :( : r/sewing

This amazing cloak is made in burnout velvet. Synthetic velvet but high quality. It has a beautiful hood and is closed in the front with a satin ribbon. Coulour is dark blue, really beautiful colour. Is avalaible in other colours if you want :) Unique size measured from shoulders. Lenght on the front is 130cm approximately and 200cm in the back.

This long, luxury, hooded cloak is made from a poly-velvet material (fairly lightweight) and then entirely lined in a matching satin, including the hood. It has shaped shoulders and closes in front with a long tie made from the same velvet material as the body of the cloak. The cloak lining is fully attached along the front seams and at the bottom hem and neckline. The velvet is a smooth velvet (not crushed).
